Dr. Jesse Tweed for RUSD Area 4

Political Client Spotlight

Launa’s most recent political campaign management services supported Dr. Jesse Tweed. On December 19th, he was officially sworn in as RUSD’s newest School Board Member for Trustee Area Four. Launa managed all aspects of Dr. Tweed’s campaign, including strategy, messaging, fundraising, and oversight of field and mail efforts. “I am grateful to Launa for her expertise and professionalism. She kept my campaign on track and made sure I did everything I was supposed to do to prevail. She’s great at what she does,” said Dr. Tweed.

Dr. Tweed is a Riverside native who attended Washington Elementary and graduated from Poly High School. He is a local pediatrician, business owner, and parent of two daughters who attend RUSD schools. As a dedicated educator to inspiring health professionals, Dr. Tweed teaches at the University of California Riverside, California Baptist University, and Loma Linda University. Dr. Tweed’s top three priorities as a member of the RUSD School Board are promoting school safety and student well-being, fostering academic excellence, and ensuring workforce readiness by investing in career technical education.

Congratulations, Dr. Tweed – Keep Doing Good Work for our Community!

Family Services Association

Nonprofit Client Spotlight

Launa recently had the honor of working with a beloved organization in the Riverside area, the Family Services Association. In the early 1950s, the Family Service Association was founded by the Junior League and local faith-based organizations in the City of Riverside, who had growing concerns when they saw the deterioration of local military families during this era. FSA is now one of the largest and most trusted, multi-service, non-profits in the Inland Empire. Launa worked with the FSA Board of Directors and Executive Team, led by CEO Cheryl-Marie Hansberger, to build a strategic plan and implementation plan to guide the organization’s growth over the next three years.

FSA’s motto is compelling, Family Strength Is Community Strength. Through early education, trauma-informed mental health services, obtainable senior housing, support for home-bound individuals, safe senior/community centers, and nutritious meals for our seniors. FSA’s team members serve over 13,000 community members each year.

In addition to the programming FSA offers, in 2013, FSA was appointed the Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) for Riverside County, known as the HOPE Collaborative. The mission of the HOPE Collaborative is to promote the safety of children and prevent abuse and neglect in Riverside County. The HOPE Collaborative accomplishes this mission through the coordination and facilitation of interagency collaboration; efforts to raise community awareness; education and training of professionals, parents, and the community; services to child abuse victims and families impacted by abuse and neglect; and advocacy efforts influencing public policy.

A younger woman and an older man stand in front of a house.“It’s easy to state the facts – the number of meals served, the communities we reach. However, the true impact of FSA extends far beyond those statistics. As a staff member for eight years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible work of our dedicated team, volunteers, and board members. We’ve fostered a strong community driven by the shared purpose to uplift and empower our community. Knowing that we are making a real difference in people’s lives each day is incredibly rewarding.” -Ahlam Jadallah, Fund Development Specialist.

We thank FSA leadership, staff, volunteers, and board members for their dedication and community service to children, adults, families, and seniors in need.

New Year’s Tips for Nonprofits

  1. As we enter the New Year, it’s the perfect time for nonprofits to refresh their strategies and build
strong foundations for short- and long-term success. Here are a few tips to help your nonprofit start
    2025 on a solid footing!
    1. Review your organization’s governance and operational policies to ensure they are up-to-
date and in compliance with state and federal regulations. Rules governing nonprofit
organizations are complex and ever-changing, so it’s smart to review your policies annually
    and make adjustments if needed.
  2. Connect with donors who participated in your year-end fundraising campaigns. Donor
stewardship is key to long-term fundraising success, and donors love to learn how they are
contributing to your organization’s successes! Don’t forget to utilize your board members in
this process – encourage board members to connect with donors personally and share
updates on how their support has made a difference.
  3. Take time to review your strategic plan and fundraising plan. Reviewing your progress and
outcomes annually with your board and staff is a great way to keep everyone focused on the
organization’s goals. Don’t forget to celebrate your achievements and identify areas for
    improvement.
  4. Attend upcoming workshops and training in your area. Professional development
opportunities help nonprofit leaders, board members, and staff learn new skills, stay updated
on trends, and refine existing knowledge. There are many workshops available throughout
our region, both virtual and in-person. If you’re in the Riverside area, be sure to check out
our workshops coming up in March!
